Some Inequalities Involving Majorization and Traces in Euclidean Jordan Algebras

Abstract: In matrix theory, the Thompson majorization inequality, Golden- Thompson inequality, and Araki-Lieb-Thirring inequality are well known. In this talk, we present a generalization of these three inequalities, respectively, to the setting of Euclidean Jordan algebras.

报告人简介:Dr. Jiyuan Tao has received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, University of Maryland, Baltimore County in the year of 2004. Currently, he is working as a Full Professor (tenured) at Loyola University Maryland, U.S.A. He has been published in numerous prestigious peer-reviewed journals including Mathematical Programming, Mathematical Operations Research, and Linear Algebra and its Applications. He was an invited speaker in various international meetings. He has been a reviewer for several reputed journals like Mathematical Programming, SIAM Optimization, Journal of Linear Algebra and its Applications, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications (JOTA). His current research includes complementarity problems over symmetric cones in Euclidean Jordan algebras and inequalities in Euclidean Jordan algebras.

高维约束矩阵回归问题探讨

摘要:高维约束矩阵回归是指高维情况下带非凸约束的多响应多预测统计回归问题,其数学模型是一个NP-难的矩阵优化,它在机器学习与人工智能、医学影像疾病诊疗、基因表达分析、脑神经网络、风险管理等领域有广泛应用。我们将对高维约束矩阵回归的优化理论与算法研究现状进行总结,提出相应的研究问题和可行的途径。

报告人简介:

孔令臣,北京交通大学理学院教授、博士生导师。主要从事对称锥互补问题和最优化、稀疏优化、低秩半定矩阵优化、医学成像等方面的研究。近年来,以第一作者在《Mathematical Programming》、《SIAM Journal on Optimization》、《Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications》、《Asia-Pacific J. of Oper. Res.》等期刊发表SCI检索论文30余篇,SCI检索他引用达160余次。关于对称锥互补问题的研究结果引起一些国内外学术同行的关注和正面评价,几个定理被收录在《Handbook on Semidefinite, Conic and Polynomial Optimization》中。主持国家自然科学基金面上项目“高维约束矩阵回归的优化理论与算法” 和参与国家自然科学基金重点项目“大规模稀疏优化问题的理论与算法”;曾主持国家自然科学基金面上项目“矩阵秩极小问题的松弛理论与算法研究”以及参与973课题等。获得2012度中国运筹学会青年奖,2013年当选中国运筹学会数学规划分会副秘书长。
